Jawad Radhi Mahmood, Ramzy Salim Ali

Pages: 83-96

PDF Full Text
Abstract

A Programmable logic controller (PLC) uses the digital logic circuits and their operating concepts in its hardware structure and its programming instructions and algorithms. Therefore, the deep understanding of these two items is staple for the development of control applications using the PLC. This target is only possible through the practical sensing of the various components or instructions of these two items and their applications. In this work, a user-friendly and re-configurable ladder, digital logic learning and application development design and testing platform has been designed and implemented using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface panel (HMI), four magnetic contactors, one Single-phase power line controller and one Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) unit. The PLC role is to implement the ladder and digital logic functions. The HMI role is to establish the virtual circuit wiring and also to drive and monitor the developed application in real time mode of application. The magnetic contactors are to play the role of industrial field actuators or to link the developed application control circuit to another field actuator like three phase induction motor. The Single -phase power line controller is to support an application like that of the soft starter. The VFD is to support induction motor driven applications like that of cut-to-length process in which steel coils are uncoiled and passed through cutting blade to be cut into required lengths. The proposed platform has been tested through the development of 14 application examples. The test results proved the validity of the proposed platform.

Iman F. Khazal, Mohammed A. Hussain

Pages: 58-65

PDF Full Text
Abstract

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) is one of the most common and dangerous attacks. The user is the target of an XSS attack, but the attacker gains access to the user by exploiting an XSS vulnerability in a web application as Bridge. There are three types of XSS attacks: Reflected, Stored, and Dom-based. This paper focuses on the Stored-XSS attack, which is the most dangerous of the three. In Stored-XSS, the attacker injects a malicious script into the web application and saves it in the website repository. The proposed method in this paper has been suggested to detect and prevent the Stored-XSS. The prevent Stored-XSS Server (PSS) was proposed as a server to test and sanitize the input to web applications before saving it in the database. Any user input must be checked to see if it contains a malicious script, and if so, the input must be sanitized and saved in the database instead of the harmful input. The PSS is tested using a vulnerable open-source web application and succeeds in detection by determining the harmful script within the input and prevent the attack by sterilized the input with an average time of 0.3 seconds.

Abstract

In this paper we present the details of methodology pursued in implementation of an HMI and Demo Temperature Monitoring application for wireless sensor-based distributed control systems. The application of WSN for a temperature monitoring and control is composed of a number of sensor nodes (motes) with a networking capability that can be deployed for monitoring and control purposes. The temperature is measured in the real time by the sensor boards that sample and send the data to the monitoring computer through a base station or gateway. This paper proposes how such monitoring system can be setup emphasizing on the aspects of low cost, energy-efficient, easy ad-hoc installation and easy handling and maintenance. This paper focuses on the overall potential of wireless sensor nodes and networking in industrial applications. A specific case study is given for the measurement of temperature (with thermistor or thermocouple), humidity, light and the health of the WSN. The focus was not on these four types of measurements and analysis but rather on the design of a communication protocol and building of an HMI software for monitoring. So, a set of system design requirements are developed that covered the use of the wireless platforms, the design of sensor network, the capabilities for remote data access and management, the connection between the WSN and an HMI software designed with MATLAB.

Abstract

In this paper, a new nonlinear dynamic system, new three-dimensional fractional order complex chaotic system, is presented. This new system can display hidden chaotic attractors or self-excited chaotic attractors. The Dynamic behaviors of this system have been considered analytically and numerically. Different means including the equilibria, chaotic attractor phase portraits, the Lyapunov exponent, and the bifurcation diagrams are investigated to show the chaos behavior in this new system. Also, a synchronization technique between two identical new systems has been developed in master- slave configuration. The two identical systems are synchronized quickly. Furthermore, the master-slave synchronization is applied in secure communication scheme based on chaotic masking technique. In the application, it is noted that the message is encrypted and transmitted with high security in the transmitter side, in the other hand the original message has been discovered with high accuracy in the receiver side. The corresponding numerical simulation results proved the efficacy and practicability of the developed synchronization technique and its application

Abstract

In this paper, we focus on ensuring encrypted vehicular communication using wireless controller area network performance at high node densities, by means of Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) algorithms. We analyses the effect of the vehicular communication parameters, message-rate, data-rate, transmission power and carrier sensing threshold, on the application performance. After a state-of-the-art analysis, we propose a data-rate DSRC algorithm. Simulation studies show that DSRC performs better than other decentralized vehicular communication algorithms for a wide range of application requirements and densities. Vehicular communication plays one of the most important roles for future autonomous vehicle. We have systematically investigated the impact of vehicular communication using the MATLAB application platform and achieved an accuracy of 93.74% after encrypting all the communications between the vehicles and securing them by applying the encryption on V2V communication in comparison with the existing system of Sensor Networks which stands at 92.97%. The transmission time for the encryption is 165 seconds while the rate of encryption is as low as 120 Mbps for the proposed awareness range of vehicles to vehicle using DSRC algorithm in Wireless-Controller Area Network for communication. Experimental results show that our proposed method performs 3% better than the recently developed algorithms.

Abstract

An intelligent video system’s basic function is the detection of moving objects. Moreover, real-time systems frequently pose limitations for applications involving video processing. Practically, to increase the frame rate or in the case of limited hardware resources, the real-time processing is done on an interested image segment called the region of interest (ROI). Applying the background subtraction (BGS) algorithm to this region is considered the main preprocessing operation. This paper presents a practical study for video processing based on FPGA to detect moving objects using the BGS technique. The proposed algorithm was developed using Verilog hardware description language (HDL), synthesized, and implemented in the programmable logic (PL) part of the ZYBO-7Z010CLG400-1 platform. Finite State Machine (FSM) controller method was used to design the Intellectual Property (IP) module that controls data transfer with BRAM (loading and reading) of the input and reference image. The simulation results of the timing signal sequences of the proposed IP module with the practical test of the BGS to detect several traffic signs of image size (90×90) pixels demonstrate that the module functions as intended. The system that is being presented has a latency of 13.468 nanoseconds, making it appropriate for real-time applications.

Pages: 226-244

PDF Full Text
Abstract

This article introduces a novel Quantum-inspired Future Search Algorithm (QFSA), an innovative amalgamation of the classical Future Search Algorithm (FSA) and principles of quantum mechanics. The QFSA was formulated to enhance both exploration and exploitation capabilities, aiming to pinpoint the optimal solution more effectively. A rigorous evaluation was conducted using seven distinct benchmark functions, and the results were juxtaposed with five renowned algorithms from existing literature. Quantitatively, the QFSA outperformed its counterparts in a majority of the tested scenarios, indicating its superior efficiency and reliability. In the subsequent phase, the utility of QFSA was explored in the realm of fault detection in underground power cables. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was devised to identify and categorize faults in these cables. By integrating QFSA with ANN, a hybrid model, QFSA-ANN, was developed to optimize the network’s structure. The dataset, curated from MATLAB simulations, comprised diverse fault types at varying distances. The ANN structure had two primary units: one for fault location and another for detection. These units were fed with nine input parameters, including phase- currents and voltages, current and voltage values from zero sequences, and voltage angles from negative sequences. The optimal architecture of the ANN was determined by varying the number of neurons in the first and second hidden layers and fine-tuning the learning rate. To assert the efficacy of the QFSA-ANN model, it was tested under multiple fault conditions. A comparative analysis with established methods in the literature further accentuated its robustness in terms of fault detection and location accuracy. this research not only augments the field of search algorithms with QFSA but also showcases its practical application in enhancing fault detection in power distribution systems. Quantitative metrics, detailed in the main article, solidify the claim of QFSA-ANN’s superiority over conventional methods.

Abstract

As a key type of mobile robot, the two-wheel mobile robot has been developed rapidly for varied domestic, health, and industrial applications due to human-like movement and balancing characteristics based on the inverted pendulum theory. This paper presents a developed Two-Wheel Self-Balanced Robot (TWSBR) model under road disturbance effects and simulated using MATLAB Simscape Multibody. The considered physical-mechanical structure of the proposed TWSBS is connected with a Simulink controller scheme by employing physical signal converters to describe the system dynamics efficiently. Through the Simscape environment, the TWSBR motion is visualized and effectively analyzed without the need for complicated analysis of the associated mathematical model. Besides, 3D visualization of real-time behavior for the implemented TWSBR plant model is displayed by Simulink Mechanics Explorer. Robot balancing and stability are achieved by utilizing Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controllers' approaches considering specific control targets. A comparative study and evaluation of both controllers are conducted to verify the robustness and road disturbance rejection. The realized performance and robustness of developed controllers are observed by varying object-carrying loaded up on mechanical structure layers during robot motion. In particular, the objective weight is loaded on the robot layers (top, middle, and bottom) during disturbance situations. The achieved findings may have the potential to extend the deployment of using TWSBRs in the varied important application.

Abstract

In order to reduce the impact of watermark embedding on the perceptual fidelity of the marked signal, watermarking systems process the generated watermark to match it to the local properties of the underlying host signal prior to embedding. However, this adaptation process could distort the watermark, affecting its robustness and information content. In this paper, a new watermark coding technique is proposed, that enables the application of some mark- nondistorting host-adaptation processing, where the intensity of the watermark could be redistributed according to the local properties of the underlying host without changing the way of interpreting the watermark to be embedded. This completely eliminates the need to equalize adaptation distortions prior to decoding, and hence, to pass any side information about the adaptation processing to the decoder, too.

Abstract

The unprogrammed penetration for the loads in the distribution networks make it work in an unbalancing situation that leads to unstable operation for those networks. the instability coming from the imbalance can cause many serious problems like the inefficient use of the feeders and the heat increased in the distribution transformers. The demands response can be regarded as a modern solution for the problem by offering a program to decreasing the consumption behavior for the program's participators in exchange for financial incentives in specific studied duration according to a direct order from the utility. The paper uses a new suggested algorithm to satisfy the direct load control demand response strategy that can be used in solving the unbalancing problem in distribution networks. The algorithm procedure has been simulated in MATLAB 2018 to real data collected from the smart meters that have been installed recently in Baghdad. The simulation results of applying the proposed algorithm on different cases of unbalancing showed that it is efficient in curing the unbalancing issue based on using the demand response strategy.

S. Ramesh, K. Karunanithi, G. Thirumurugan, S. P. Raja

Pages: 1-9

PDF Full Text
Abstract

Inductors play a major role in the power electronics domain, particularly in DC-DC converter design. The objective of this paper is to reach inductance value by means of fewer turns, using Litz wire wound on a ferrite core. In the manufacture of inductors, the key aspects of the design criteria include the choice of the core material, the type of copper coil and insulation materials, and their overall size. Taking into consideration the design parameters with no compromises on performance, Litz wire with the least turns is introduced into an inductor in certain DC-DC converters. Once the DC settled voltage is reached, it is given to a single-phase inverter for loading and application measures. This approach provides a small-level inductor design for maximized efficiency with improved thermal behavior. The hardware model for the proposed method has been developed using a DC-DC converter fed with a single-phase inverter model. The proposed DC-DC converter has been tested, performance-wise, by applying different load levels. It is observed, from the results, that the Litz wire-based approach achieves maximum efficiency with improved thermal behavior.

There is only one quantifiable feedback signal used by the controller (generator speed deviation). It is also possible to purchase this controller in a reduced-order form. The findings of the robust control are contrasted with those of the "idealistic" full state optimal control. The LQG damping controller's regulator robustness is then strengthened by the application of Loop Transfer Recovery (LTR). Nonlinear power system simulation is used to confirm the resilience of the planned controller and demonstrates how well the regulator dampens power system oscillations. The approach dampens all torsional oscillatory modes quickly while maintaining appropriate control actions, according to simulation results.

Abstract

Audio encryption has gained popularity in a variety of fields including education, banking over the phone, military, and private audio conferences. Data encryption algorithms are necessary for processing and sending sensitive information in the context of secure speech conversations. In recent years, the importance of security in any communications system has increased. To transfer data securely, a variety of methods have been used. Chaotic system-based encryption is one of the most significant encryption methods used in the field of security. Chaos-based communication is a promising application of chaos theory and nonlinear dynamics. In this research, a chaotic algorithm for the new chaotic chameleon system was proposed, studied, and implemented. The chameleon chaotic system has been preferred to be employed because it has the property of changing from self-excited (SA) to hidden-attractor (HA) which increases the complexity of the system dynamics and gives strength to the encryption algorithm. A chaotic chameleon system is one in which, depending on the parameter values, the chaotic attractor alternates between being a hidden attractor and a self-excited attractor. This is an important feature, so it is preferable to use it in cryptography compared to other types of chaotic systems. This model was first implemented using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), which is the first time it has been implemented in practical applications. The chameleon system model was implemented using MATLAB Simulink and the Xilinx System Generator model. Self-excited, hidden, and coexisting attractors are shown in the proposed system. Vivado software was used to validate the designs, and Xilinx ZedBoard Zynq-7000 FPGA was used to implement them. The dynamic behavior of the proposed chaotic system was also studied and analysis methods, including phase portrait, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponents. Assessing the quality of the suggested method by doing analyses of many quality measures, including correlation, differential signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), entropy, histogram analysis, and spectral density plot. The numerical analyses and simulation results demonstrate how well the suggested method performs in terms of security against different types of cryptographic assaults.

Abstract

Because elliptic curve cryptography offers a promising trade-off between security and computational performance, the field of current cryptographic techniques has taken a particular interest in it. Two basic digital signature algorithms—the Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman Algorithm (ECDH) and the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) are the subject of this performance analysis and comparison. These methods are based on elliptic curve cryptography. The analysis takes into consideration realistic application demands as well as factors like key length and security level. The results provide useful information on trade-offs between performance and security. A list of acceptable ECDSA requirements for digital signatures was used for the comparison. These characteristics are sign, sign/s, no PC verify, no PC verify/s, siglen, keygen, keygen/s, verify, and verify/s.

Abstract

A composite PD and sliding mode neural network (NN)-based adaptive controller, for robotic manipulator trajectory tracking, is presented in this paper. The designed neural networks are exploited to approximate the robotics dynamics nonlinearities, and compensate its effect and this will enhance the performance of the filtered error based PD and sliding mode controller. Lyapunov theorem has been used to prove the stability of the system and the tracking error boundedness. The augmented Lyapunov function is used to derive the NN weights learning law. To reduce the effect of breaching the NN learning law excitation condition due to external disturbances and measurement noise; a modified learning law is suggested based on e-modification algorithm. The controller effectiveness is demonstrated through computer simulation of cylindrical robot manipulator.

Pages: 90-99

Abstract

Path planning is an essential concern in robotic systems, and it refers to the process of determining a safe and optimal path starting from the source state to the goal one within dynamic environments. We proposed an improved path planning method in this article, which merges the Dijkstra algorithm for path planning with Potential Field (PF) collision avoidance. In real-time, the method attempts to produce multiple paths as well as determine the suitable path that’s both short and reliable (safe). The Dijkstra method is employed to produce multiple paths, whereas the Potential Field is utilized to assess the safety of each route and choose the best one. The proposed method creates links between the routes, enabling the robot to swap between them if it discovers a dynamic obstacle on its current route. Relating to path length and safety, the simulation results illustrate that Dynamic Dijkstra-Potential Field (Dynamic D-PF) achieves better performance than the Dijkstra and Potential Field each separately, and going to make it a promising solution for the application of robotic automation within dynamic environments.

Abstract

This work presents a wireless communication network (WCN) infrastructure for the smart grid based on the technology of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) to address the main real-time applications of the smart grid such as Wide Area Monitoring and Control (WAMC), video surveillance, and distributed energy resources (DER) to provide low cost, flexibility, and expansion. Such wireless networks suffer from two significant impairments. On one hand, the data of real- time applications should deliver to the control center under robust conditions in terms of reliability and latency where the packet loss is increased with the increment of the number of industrial clients and transmission frequency rate under the limited capacity of WiMAX base station (BS). This research suggests wireless edge computing using WiMAX servers to address reliability and availability. On the other hand, BSs and servers consume affected energy from the power grid. Therefore, the suggested WCN is enhanced by green self-powered based on solar energy to compensate for the expected consumption of energy. The model of the system is built using an analytical approach and OPNET modeler. The results indicated that the suggested WCN based on green WiMAX BS and green edge computing can handle the latency and data reliability of the smart grid applications successfully and with a self-powered supply. For instance, WCN offered latency below 20 msec and received data reliability up to 99.99% in the case of the heaviest application in terms of data.

Abstract

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs), a subsection of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), have strong future application prospects. Because topology structures are rapidly changing, determining a route that can guarantee a good Quality of Service (QoS) is a critical issue in VANETs. Routing is a critical component that must be addressed in order to utilize effective communication among vehicles. The purpose obtained from this study is to compare the AODV and GPSR performance in terms of Packet Delivery Ratio, Packet Drop Ratio, Throughput, and End-to-End Delay by applying three scenarios, the first scenario focuses on studying these protocols in terms of QoS while changing the number of vehicles at a constant speed of 40Km/h, and for the second scenario changing the speed value while keeping a constant number of vehicles which is 100, the third involves changing the communication range at a constant speed and vehicle number. This study represents a foundation for researchers to help elaborate on the strength and weaknesses of these two protocols. OMNeT++ in conjunction with SUMO is used for simulation.

Abstract

One crucial challenge confronting operators worldwide is how to ensure that everything runs smoothly as well as how to monitor the network. The monitoring system should be accurate, easy to use, and quick enough to reflect network performance in a timely way. Passive network monitoring is an excellent tool for this. It could be used to look for issues with a single network device or a large-scale issue affecting the whole LAN or core network. However, passive network monitoring is not limited to issue resolution; it could also be used to generate network statistics and measure network performance. As shown in this review, it is a very strong tool, as seen by the sheer volume of data published on Google Scholar. The main objective of this review is to analyze and comprehend monitoring measurements for quality of service to serve as a resource for future research and application. Essential terms and concepts of network monitoring and their quality of service are presented. Network monitoring measurements (which can be passive, active, or hybrid) and their wireless network monitoring tools (which can be public domain or commercial tools) are also covered in terms of relevance, advantages, and disadvantages. Finally, the review is summarized.

Abstract

This paper presents a new optimization algorithm called corrosion diffusion optimization algorithm (CDOA). The proposed algorithm is based on the diffusion behavior of the pitting corrosion on the metal surface. CDOA utilizes the oxidation and reduction electrochemical reductions as well as the mathematical model of Gibbs free energy in its searching for the optimal solution of a certain problem. Unlike other algorithms, CDOA has the advantage of dispensing any parameter that need to be set for improving the convergence toward the optimal solution. The superiority of the proposed algorithm over the others is highlighted by applying them on some unimodal and multimodal benchmark functions. The results show that CDOA has better performance than the other algorithms in solving the unimodal equations regardless the dimension of the variable. On the other hand, CDOA provides the best multimodal optimization solution for dimensions less than or equal to (5, 10, 15, up to 20) but it fails in solving this type of equations for variable dimensions larger than 20. Moreover, the algorithm is also applied on two engineering application problems, namely the PID controller and the cantilever beam to accentuate its high performance in solving the engineering problems. The proposed algorithm results in minimized values for the settling time, rise time, and overshoot for the PID controller. Where the rise time, settling time, and maximum overshoot are reduced in the second order system to 0.0099, 0.0175 and 0.005 sec., in the fourth order system to 0.0129, 0.0129 and 0 sec, in the fifth order system to 0.2339, 0.7756 and 0, in the fourth system which contains time delays to 1.5683, 2.7102 and 1.80 E-4 sec., and in the simple mass-damper system to 0.403, 0.628 and 0 sec., respectively. In addition, it provides the best fitness function for the cantilever beam problem compared with some other well-known algorithms.

Pages: 9-13

PDF Full Text
Abstract

This paper examines the use of non-integer switching frequency ratios in digitally controlled DC-DC converters. In particular the execution of multiple control algorithms using a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for this application is analyzed. The variation in delay from when the Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) samples the output voltage to when the duty cycle is updated is identified as a critical factor to be considered when implementing the digital control system. Fixing the delay to its maximum value is found to produce reasonable performance using a conventional DSP. A modification of the DSP’s interrupt control logic is proposed here that minimizes the delay and thereby yields improved performance compared with that given by a standard interrupt controller. Applying this technique to a multi-rail power supply system provides the designer with the flexibility to choose arbitrary switching frequencies for individual converters, thereby allowing optimization of the efficiency and performance of the individual converters.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a lot of interest in the study of P300 potential-based approaches for lie detection. The variations in brain signal activity (EEG-P300 component) that distinguish between lying and starting the truth are investigated. As soon as participants respond to an experiment stimulus for the first time, their brain signals are examined and the P300 signal is extracted. This paper aims to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of P300, which leads to an increase in the classification accuracy of lie detection. Ten subjects were randomly assigned to groups of lying and innocent people, and 14 electrodes captured the EEG data for each group. This work proposed to use some denoising techniques like averaging the raw EEG signal, regression-based baseline correction, and independent component analysis (ICA). The suggested approach and other early published methods vary mostly in the regression-based technique used in bassline correction to adaptively indicate the baseline interval (baseline window). Compared to other studies, the suggested technique gives an increase in the mean amount of SNR by up to 20% was obtained.

Abstract

The reluctance of industry to allow wireless paths to be incorporated in process control loops has limited the potential applications and benefits of wireless systems. The challenge is to maintain the performance of a control loop, which is degraded by slow data rates and delays in a wireless path. To overcome these challenges, this paper presents an application–level design for a wireless sensor/actuator network (WSAN) based on the “automated architecture”. The resulting WSAN system is used in the developing of a wireless distributed control system (WDCS). The implementation of our wireless system involves the building of a wireless sensor network (WSN) for data acquisition and controller area network (CAN) protocol fieldbus system for plant actuation. The sensor/actuator system is controlled by an intelligent digital control algorithm that involves a controller developed with velocity PID- like Fuzzy Neural Petri Net (FNPN) system. This control system satisfies two important real-time requirements: bumpless transfer and anti-windup, which are needed when manual/auto operating aspect is adopted in the system. The intelligent controller is learned by a learning algorithm based on back-propagation. The concept of petri net is used in the development of FNN to get a correlation between the error at the input of the controller and the number of rules of the fuzzy-neural controller leading to a reduction in the number of active rules. The resultant controller is called robust fuzzy neural petri net (RFNPN) controller which is created as a software model developed with MATLAB. The developed concepts were evaluated through simulations as well validated by real-time experiments that used a plant system with a water bath to satisfy a temperature control. The effect of disturbance is also studied to prove the system's robustness.

In this work two scenarios suggested for different two missions. First mission the quadrotor will be used to reach different goals in the simulated city for different places during one flight using path following algorithm. The second mission will be an indoor arrival mission, during that mission quadrotor will avoid obstacles by using only Pure pursuit algorithm (PPA). To show the benefit of using the new strategy it will compare with a victor field histogram algorithm (VFH) which is used widely in robotics for avoiding obstacles, the comparison will be in terms of reaching time and distance of reaching the goal. The Gazebo Simulator (GS) is used to visualize the movement of the quadrotor. The gazebo has another preferred position it helps to show the motion development of the quadrotor without managing the mathematical model of the quadrotor. The Robotic Operating System (ROS) is used to transfer the data between the MATLAB Simulink program and the Gazebo Simulator. The diversion results show that, the proposed mission techniques win to drive the quarter on the perfect route similarly at the limit with regards to the quadrotor to go without hitting any obstacle in the perfect way.

Abstract

Epilepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by recurring seizures, necessitates early and precise detection for effective management. Deep learning techniques have emerged as powerful tools for analyzing complex medical data, specifically electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, advancing epileptic detection. This review comprehensively presents cutting-edge methodologies in deep learning-based epileptic detection systems. Beginning with an overview of epilepsy’s fundamental concepts and their implications for individuals and healthcare are present. This review then delves into deep learning principles and their application in processing EEG signals. Diverse research papers to know the architectures—convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and hybrid models—are investigated, emphasizing their strengths and limitations in detecting epilepsy. Preprocessing techniques for improving EEG data quality and reliability, such as noise reduction, artifact removal, and feature extraction, are discussed. Present performance evaluation metrics in epileptic detection, such as accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve, are provided. This review anticipates future directions by highlighting challenges such as dataset size and diversity, model interpretability, and integration with clinical decision support systems. Finally, this review demonstrates how deep learning can improve the precision, efficiency, and accessibility of early epileptic diagnosis. This advancement allows for more timely interventions and personalized treatment plans, potentially revolutionizing epilepsy management.

Abstract

The objective in Data Grids is to reduce access and file (replica) transfer latencies, as well as to avoid single site congestion by the numerous requesters. To facilitate access and transfer of the data, the files of the Data Grid are distributed across the multiple sites. The effectiveness of a replica selection strategy in data grids depends on its ability to serve the requirement posed by the users' jobs. Most jobs are required to be executed at a specific execution time. To achieve the QoS perceived by the users, response time metrics should take into account a replica selection strategy. Total execution time needs to factor latencies due to network transfer rates and latencies due to search and location. Network resources affect the speed of moving the required data and searching methods can reduce scope for replica selection. This paper presents a replica selection strategy that adapts its criteria dynamically so as to best approximate application providers’ and clients’ requirements. We introduce a new selection technique (EST) that shows improved performance over the more common algorithms.
