The hybrid AC/DC microgrid is considered to be more and more popular in power systems as increasing loads. In this study, it is presented that the hybrid AC/DC microgrid is modeled with some renewable energy sources (e.g. solar energy, wind energy) in the residential of the consumer in order to meet the demand. The power generation and consumption are undergoing a major transformation. One of the tendencies is to integrate microgrids into the distribution network with high penetration of renewable energy resources. In this paper, a new distributed coordinated control is proposed for hybrid microgrid, which could apply to both grid-connected mode and islanded mode with hybrid energy resources and variable loads. The proposed system permits coordinated operation of distributed energy resources to concede necessary active power and additional service whenever required. Also, the maximum power point tracking technique is applied to both photovoltaic stations and wind turbines to extract the maximum power from the hybrid power system during the variation of the environmental conditions. Finally, a simulation model is built with a photovoltaic, wind turbine, hybrid microgrid as the paradigm, which can be applied to different scenarios, such as small-sized commercial and residential buildings. The simulation results have verified the effectiveness and feasibility of the introduced strategy for a hybrid microgrid operating in different modes. | |

The conventional multilevel inverter (MLI) is divided into three types: diode clamped MLI, cascade H Bridge MLI and flying capacitor MLI. The main disadvantage of these types is the higher required number of components when the number of the levels increases and this results in more switching losses, system higher cost, more complex of control circuit as well as less accuracy. The work in this paper proposes two topologies of nonconventional diode clamping MLI three phase nine levels and eleven levels. The first proposed topology has ten switches and six diodes per phase while the second topology has nine switches and four diodes per phase. The pulse width modulation (PWM) control method is used as a control to gate switches. THD of the two proposed topologies are analyzed and calculated according different values of Modulation index (where the power loss and efficiency are obtained and plotted. | |

This paper presents a new design of the filtering antenna with a quasi-elliptic function response. The basic structure of the proposed filtering antenna is consists of a four-folded arms open-loop resonator (OLR). The proposed filtering antenna is simulated, improved and, analyzed by using 3D Computer Simulation Technology (CST) electromagnetic simulator software. The design has good spurious harmonic suppression in the upper and lower stopbands. The Insertion Loss of the proposed filtering antenna IL=0.2 dB and the Return Loss RL= -25.788 dB at the center frequency fo=5.75 GHz. The passband bandwidth which is relatively wide, and equal to 0.793 GHz. The microstrip filtering antenna circuit shows good design results compared to the conventional microstrip patch antenna. The filtering antenna design circuit with etched ground plane structure also has good design results compared to the filtering antenna design which has a complete ground plane structure. | |

Facial emotion recognition finds many real applications in the daily life like human robot interaction, eLearning, healthcare, customer services etc. The task of facial emotion recognition is not easy due to the difficulty in determining the effective feature set that can recognize the emotion conveyed within the facial expression accurately. Graph mining techniques are exploited in this paper to solve facial emotion recognition problem. After determining positions of facial landmarks in face region, twelve different graphs are constructed using four facial components to serve as a source for sub-graphs mining stage using gSpan algorithm. In each group, the discriminative set of sub-graphs are selected and fed to Deep Belief Network (DBN) for classification purpose. The results obtained from the different groups are then fused using Naïve Bayes classifier to make the final decision regards the emotion class. Different tests were performed using Surrey Audio-Visual Expressed Emotion (SAVEE) database and the achieved results showed that the system gives the desired accuracy (100%) when fusion decisions of the facial groups. The achieved result outperforms state-of-the-art results on the same database. | |

The gyroscope and accelerometer are the basic sensors used by most Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) like quadcopter to control itself. In this paper, the fault detection of measured angular and linear states by gyroscope and accelerometer sensors are present. Uncertainties in measurement and physical sensors itself are the main reasons that lead to generate noise and cause the fault in measured states. Most previous solutions are process angular or linear states to improving the performance of quadcopter. Also, in most of the previous solutions, KF and EKF filters are used, which are inefficient in dealing with high nonlinearity systems such as quadcopter. The proposed algorithm is developed by the robust nonlinear filter, Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF), as an angular and linear estimation filter. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient to decrease the effect of sensors noise and estimate accurate angular and linear states. Also, improving the stability and performance properties of the quadcopter. In addition, the new algorithm leads to increasing the range of nonlinearity movements that quadcopter can perform it. | |

The brain tumors are among the common deadly illness that requires early, reliable detection techniques, current identification, and imaging methods that depend on the decisions of neuro-specialists and radiologists who can make possible human error. This takes time to manually identify a brain tumor. This work aims to design an intelligent model capable of diagnosing and predicting the severity of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain tumors to make an accurate decision. The main contribution is achieved by adopting a new multiclass classifier approach based on a collected real database with new proposed features that reflect the precise situation of the disease. In this work, two artificial neural networks (ANNs) methods namely, Feed Forward Back Propagation neural network (FFBPNN) and support vector machine (SVM), used to expectations the level of brain tumors. The results show that the prediction result by the (FFBPN) network will be better than the other method in time record to reach an automatic classification with classification accuracy was 97% for 3-class which is considered excellent accuracy. The software simulation and results of this work have been implemented via MATLAB (R2012b). | |

In this paper, the effect of the grating parameters (i.e. gratings length (Lg) and the induced index profile (Δn)); the temperature variation (T) and the applied strain change on the fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) 3dB-bandwidth (i.e. full width-half maximum (FWHM)) have successfully investigated numerically using MATHCAD software. Results show that for Lg < 7 mm, the FBG 3dB-bandwidth (i.e. full width-half maximum (FWHM)) value shows a good reliable and visible impact. Otherwise, there are no significant effects except for increasing the FBG reflectivity. Also, results show that the FWHM value has affected by the change of the Δn value. In contrast, results show that there is no significant effect of the temperature on the FWHM value. Also, results shown that the dependence of the Bragg wavelength (λB) upon both strain and temperature variations is lies within the range of 0.462 – 0.470 fm με-1 °C-1 | |

The Leader detecting and following are one of the main challenges in designing a leader-follower multi-robot system, in addition to the challenge of achieving the formation between the robots, while tracking the leader. The biological system is one of the main sources of inspiration for understanding and designing such multi-robot systems, especially, the aggregations that follow an external stimulus such as light. In this paper, a multi-robot system in which the robots are following a spotlight is designed based on the behavior of the Artemia aggregations. Three models are designed: kinematic and two dynamic models. The kinematic model reveals the light attraction behavior of the Artemia aggregations. The dynamic model will be derived based on the newton equation of forces and its parameters are evaluated by two methods: first, a direct method based on the physical structure of the robot and, second, the Least Square Parameter Estimation method. Several experiments are implemented in order to check the success of the three proposed systems and compare their performance. The experiments are divided into three scenarios of simulation according to three paths: the straight line, circle, zigzag path. The V-Rep software has been used for the simulation and the results appeared the success of the proposed system and the high performance of tracking the spotlight and achieving the flock formation, especially the dynamic models. | |

With the recent developments of technology and the advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, it has become possible for the robot to understand and respond to voice as part of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). The voice-based interface robot can recognize the speech information from humans so that it will be able to interact more naturally with its human counterpart in different environments. In this work, a review of the voice-based interface for HRI systems has been presented. The review focuses on voice-based perception in HRI systems from three facets, which are: feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and semantic understanding. For feature extraction, numerous types of features have been reviewed in various domains, such as time, frequency, cepstral (i.e. implementing the inverse Fourier transform for the signal spectrum logarithm), and deep domains. For dimensionality reduction, subspace learning can be used to eliminate the redundancies of high-dimensional features by further processing extracted features to reflect their semantic information better. For semantic understanding, the aim is to infer from the extracted features the objects or human behaviors. Numerous types of semantic understanding have been reviewed, such as speech recognition, speaker recognition, speaker gender detection, speaker gender and age estimation, and speaker localization. Finally, some of the existing voice-based interface issues and recommendations for future works have been outlined. | |

Nowadays, cloud computing has attracted the attention of large companies due to its high potential, flexibility, and profitability in providing multi-sources of hardware and software to serve the connected users. Given the scale of modern data centers and the dynamic nature of their resource provisioning, we need effective scheduling techniques to manage these resources while satisfying both the cloud providers and cloud users goals. Task scheduling in cloud computing is considered as NP-hard problem which cannot be easily solved by classical optimization methods. Thus, both heuristic and meta-heuristic techniques have been utilized to provide optimal or near-optimal solutions within an acceptable time frame for such problems. In this article, a summary of heuristic and meta-heuristic methods for solving the task scheduling optimization in cloud-fog systems is presented. The cost and time aware scheduling methods for both bag of tasks and workflow tasks are reviewed, discussed, and analyzed thoroughly to provide a clear vision for the readers in order to select the proper methods which fulfill their needs. |

The main purpose of using the suspension system in vehicles is to prevent the road disturbance from being transmitted to the passengers. Therefore, a precise controller should be designed to improve the performances of suspension system. This paper presents a modeling and control of the nonlinear full vehicle active suspension system with passenger seat utilizing Fuzzy Model Reference Learning Control (FMRLC) technique. The components of the suspension system are: damper, spring and actuator, all of those components have nonlinear behavior, so that, nonlinear forces that are generated by those components should be taken into account when designed the control system. The designed controller consumes high power so that when the control system is used, the vehicle will consume high amount of fuel. It notes that, when vehicle is driven on a rough road; there will be a shock between the sprung mass and the unsprung mass. This mechanical power dissipates and converts into heat power by a damper. In this paper, the wasted power has reclaimed in a proper way by using electromagnetic actuator. The electromagnetic actuator converts the mechanical power into electrical power which can be used to drive the control system. Therefore, overall power consumption demand for the vehicle can be reduced. When the electromagnetic actuator is used three main advantages can be obtained: firstly, fuel consumption by the vehicle is decreased, secondly, the harmful emission is decreases, therefore, our environment is protected, and thirdly, the performance of the suspension system is improved as shown in the obtained results. | |
